If you are planning to travel to Fiji you should also be aware that it is a tropical climate and it does have mosquitoes. If you have allergies to them, I would strongly suggest taking antihistamines with you in case you get bitten. Having said that, the resorts are very good often spraying daily to keep them away and if you remember to pack an insect repellent I am sure you will be fine.

Once you have arrived at Fiji, unless you are on a package tour, where excursions are taken care of, we recommend you hire a car. The Island is large and mountainous in areas. There are lots of exciting places to visit and the only way to get around the island in your own time and at your own pace is by car. You could use a taxi or bus service, but they don’t always run on time and in the case of a taxi, would work out much more expensive than car hire. There are plenty of places to hire a car from, including the airport.

While in Fiji it is not advisable to drink the tap water. Generally the water at the resorts has been treated and is OK to drink, but you are best to check with the staff. If you are away on a day trip it is advisable to take and only drink bottled water.
